Germanys finance minister said on Monday he was open to the creation of a separate European parliament for countries using the euro, a step that could deepen divisions within the European Union.
Wolfgang Schäubles comments, made during a visit to Brussels, challenge the very foundations of the European Union, where lawmaking for all 28 nations is by the blocs current parliament.
Splitting that body, critics believe, would represent a dismantling of one of Europes biggest symbols of unity. But Schäuble said a separate parliament for the 18 countries in the eurozone would allow the smaller group to integrate more closely.

Of course he did...
Of the 28 countries how many are not using the euro?
Eleven. The eurozone has 17 members, all of them miffed at the UK for not joining too.
They really don’t have a parliament in the representative sense, of even say,,,a congress.
They cannot even introduce legislation. They can only approve things that are introduced there by the higher levels of the Euro-dictatorship/Oligarchy.
A legislative body that cannot introduce legislation. That’s what they have.
Another layer of government never hurt anyone....says the German.
But don’t worry, the Euro Parliament can _request_ that the appointed European commission introduce legislation. And the Commission of course kind of has to answer to the Euro Council who appoints them.
So the EU legislative body is insulated from the voters by at least 2 levels.
And the Ukrainian dim bulbs are hoping for a very second class status within THAT kind of a governing body. Europe is entertaining.
Yes, Europarl. The biggest rubber-stamp toy parliament in history.
And of course the Commission, with the lack of accountability (all appointed) and the lack of separation of powers (has sole legislative initiative and the power to pass those laws).
In fairness, even being part of the EU is better than being made into Russia’s bitch, which is seen as the alternative...
They’re about the same in terms of loss of dignity.
