As someone that’s lived in Japan HOW IT POSSIBLE TO GET MORE EXPENSIVE?

Just kidding, it’s because they foolishly devalued their currency AGAIN.

Just a wild guess, but because of the disaster at the nuclear power plant, they probably had to drastically increase their imports of oil and natural gas, and that might be the chief reason for the inflation.

You do realize they’ve been fighting literal deflation for almost 20 years, and have never devalued their currency, which trades in the open market.
