Perhaps — but, the fact remains that Muslim women have very little power, and most are coerced into wearing the concealing (and dehumanizing) clothing.

Being Muslim is her choice. (hey - I'm not saying it's an EASY choice....but it is still a choice, along with the dehumanizing clothing).

Aside from that, it is still tragic. For all we know, it might have been her fashion style to wear a long scarf anyway. My daughter loves wearing scarves, and I think about these things (ever since reading about Isadora Duncan years ago!) The odd times that I wear a scarf to work, I'm hella careful when I lean over to put something in the paper shredder.
