“Like the one yesterday from PAKISTAN telling me the Microsoft Server was getting error messages from my computer, telling them that my computer was being used by hackers to attack other computers. And that it was ruining my hard drive. And there was no software I could get to fix it. That they would fix it for free, but there would be a charge of....

I guess you can tell how that went. “

If I am not busy, I take the call and keep them on the line until I get bored. My record to date is 45 minutes. I tell them I cannot find the “any” key and can they help me.

Same here. I hung up on the first guy, and they called me back. I kept telling them they needed to get someone who speaks english. They asked my how many computers did I have in my home. I told them it was none of their business. I asked them how they got my phone number. They said I gave it when I registered Windows. (I didn't buy the computer 'new', it was previously used).

The worst part was that the guy kept repeating "OH MY GOD" after he would have me do some kind of lookup and describe what I saw.

The Microsoft Authenticode had an expiration date of 1995. OH MY GOD. That means I am not protected OH MY GOD.

(which is complete BS. The Authenticode thing is there for a reason, and is the same on everyone's (windows) computer. I googled it and checked it out. It's there for backwards compatibility.

After about 30-45 minutes, I said, "You aren't even from America", and hung up. I hope it cost them plenty to call me from Pakistan. Three different times, as well.
