Experts hail stem cell breakthrough

A "revolutionary" new approach to creating stem cells in the laboratory could open up a new era of personalised medicine, it is claimed.

Scientists have shown it is possible to reprogramme cells into an embryonic-like state simply by altering their environment.

It means in principle that cells can have their developmental clock turned back without directly interfering with their genes - something never achieved before.

The cells become "pluripotent", having the potential ability to transform themselves into virtually any kind of tissue in the body, from brain to bone.

It appears that if we can get through the next 10 years without WWIII, global economic collapse and a New Dark Age, we are on the verge of making a host of revolutionary technologies that will propel us to the stars.

Uh huh. Well, before you go full Arthur C Clarke on us I should remind you that there’s fifteen years worth of reports here on FR that the cure for male pattern baldness is only five years away.

Who’s gonna say it. . .George Bush was right on this one.

The diseased people who wanted to slaughter unborn children to harvest their stem cells to be cured would have gotten cancer had GWB allowed government funding. And, had they listened to him, and scientists focused on alternatives, perhaps this technology would have been developed sooner.

When something is wrong, it is wrong. It blew me away when I first learned that most if not all experiments with embryonic stem cells resulted in cancer. It was fairly common knowledge in the medical community the whole time those idiots were bludgeoning GWB.

In all seriousness, give us another 40 years and we will have unlocked the keys to immortality. Not that I think that is a good thing (or bad thing). Rather, I firmly believe it.

Macular regeneration therapy ......

With culture medium for sale on the net...and new chemical methods of striping cells from blood....

We all may soon have clear eyesight for all.

Problem is the process rebuilds the entire circulatory system....causing patients to live 1/3 longer......so the tech will not be avail to everyone......
The old white guy demographic ....is not to be considered.......bet on it.

Yes, but this time it’s different, and let me use an analogy to explain how:

Back in the day, remote control TV’s used a mechanical tuner hooked up to a motor controlled by radio or sound wave sensor (Those old zenith consoles would change channels when I banged two forks together.).

These motorized tuners got better and better over the years but were still an expensive option. Enter infrared led’s and electronic tuners with no moving parts. First came those non-remote TV’s with a verticle row of buttons to change the channel, then they added remote. Now, ALL TV’s are remote and it costs virtually nothing. Heck, even the cheap after market stereo in my truck has a remote.

What changed was they attacked the problem from a completely different technological base. They didn’t make the tuner smaller or more efficient. They didn’t improve the motor. Nope. They eliminated them completely and went to a different technology and now it is effortless and cheap to accomplish.

It will happen with hair loss, boob size, you name it. It truly is frightening just how cheaply and easily we will be able to modify human beings before and after birth. I don’t think the Lord is going to wait all that much longer. But I could be wrong.

Finally the heartbreak of Boob loss can be cured!

Either that or, “I’m sorry Mr. Smith but you have
a cancerous hand growing in your stomach...”.

Badaboom.

Soooo, Hillary Clinton had a bump growing on her forehead.
It got bigger and bigger and finally she went to the
doctor. He examined it, hemmed and hawed a bit, until
Hillary couldn’t stand it any longer and asked him what
the problem was. He told her the problem was that she
had a penis growing out of her forehead.
“Oh, my god!, she cried, “You mean I’m going to have
to look at that the rest of my life??”
“Oh,No” the doctor replied, the testicles will block
your vision...

Badabang!
Thank you, I’ll be here all week.

If this true then all I need to do is remove some of my stem cells, bath them in a low pH solution for 25 minutes, then inject them into my bald head and I should start growing hair back.

Yeah. All these discoveries to give us longer lives are happening at the same time we are getting Obamacare and death panels. So they'll use the Big Data they get on all of us, eliminate those who are not with the program, and provide immortality to the elect while breeding "perfect" people.

They shall be as gods...
