I still can't understand your position that the government should forgive non-payment of school lunches (or anything).That is NOT my position! That is what you said is my position!
My position is that children should be fed lunch...young children should not be punished because of adults.
Your position is that food be taken away and thrown out if the kids' parents are behind in payment.
BTW, I don't live in Austin or Houston. Who are your senators? Your governor? NYC's mayor?

My position is that children should be fed lunch...young children should not be punished because of adults.So, what is your solution? You certainly don't want to err on the side of common-sense responsibility.
What would you do after having dunned the parents several times with no payment for their kids' lunches forthcoming?
Feed them today with another threatening letter? Feed them again tomorrow with, perhaps, a phone call? What would you do? Where does it end?

You have turned this into a debate about the free lunch program. That's not what the article about. It's about having food taken away from children who, in one case, owed the cafeteria $4. (I saw the father on TV)
Your position is that kids shouldn't be fed if they aren't on the free lunch program.

The parents should feed the kid[or pay someone else to] -- period.
