Christie Knew About Bridge Lane Closings, Port Authority Official Says
The New York Times ^ | Friday, January 31, 2014 | Kate Zernike

Posted on 01/31/2014 12:47:24 PM PST by kristinn

The former Port Authority official who personally oversaw the lane closings on the George Washington Bridge in the scandal now swirling around Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey said on Friday that the governor knew about the lane closings when they were happening, and that he had the evidence to prove it.

In a letter released by his lawyer, the official, David Wildstein, a high school friend of Mr. Christie’s who was appointed with the governor’s blessing at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which controls the bridge, described the order to close the lanes as “the Christie administration’s order” and said “evidence exists as well tying Mr. Christie to having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were closed, contrary to what the governor stated publicly in a two-hour press conference” three weeks ago.

“Mr. Wildstein contests the accuracy of various statements that the governor made about him and he can prove the inaccuracy of some,” the letter added.

Christie is a a jerk - a repugnicant version of the typical thug dim. He smooched Barrys butt to stick it to Romney. The state of NJ deserves him, and that is where he should stay. If he bounces his way to the GOP nomination it will be 8 years of swillary. I have serious doubts that we will ever be able to undo the damage done by barry. If she is elected, America, as we used to know it, is most certainly finished.

I am not a big fan of Christie.

However, I don’t like to see people smeared.

What additional EVIDENCE has been put forward to show that Christie himself knew?

Answer—NONE.

All we have is a guy who wants money claiming that “Christie knew—take my word for it.”

This is just a sorry excuse for the NY Slimes to do what it does best—slime what they view as a conservative potential candidate, every chance they get, whether there is actual EVIDENCE or not.

Any conservative who puts the slightest credence in this story, in the absence of EVIDENCE, is just doing what the NY SLIMES wants.

I believe that you are correct. If you read the NYT story carefully, it simply says that the former state worker is claiming that Christie knew of the closures as they were occurring. He is not claiming that Christie knew that his administration was causing the closures. The article later states that Christie previously said that he was unaware of his administration having caused the closures. The article does not state that Christie ever denied knowing about the fact of the closures as they were occurring. Drudge’s headline is misleading. However, the story quotes the former official as stating that Christie denied knowing about the closures as they were occurring. I think that this might be a false accusation.

Christie is a massive (and I mean massive) pro-amnesty RINO.

The only thing he might have been good for is to split the RINO vote in the primaries so an actual conservative could possibly squeak through.

At one a month, they better hurry, times flyin!

Oh well, they can have this gun grabbing RINO out of the McCain school for political treachery!

The guy says he has evidence—so maybe you should stop smearing him.

You bet he did!
Not a chance he did not. I bet he was laughing at what happened. Never mind the people who had to get to work or to anyplace. One big joke to these people.

But look at the bright side, it does keep the New York Times reporters out of Palin’s garbage because it certainly is not distracting them from their in depth investigative reporting on Benghazi, the IRS or arming the banditos.

I want the USA back said: "He is a threat to their entrenched power, and can win."

Why would you want a bully who punishes your mayor by closing the streets to run, let alone win?

McCain lost, at least in part, because he had no PRINCIPLES. He doesn't stand for anything. He had to suggest to the NRA that he suddenly understood the Second Amendment. It was nonsense.

Tell me what Christie stands for and why that would outweigh abusing his authority, if in fact he did so?

This whole episode is a farce:

The NYT ignores crime after crime by a skinny black guy but goes after the fat white guy with hammer and tongs.

No wonder no RINO came to his defense.
They knew he knew. Christie is finished. And that is a good thing.

Honestly most folks in Jersey could care less about a traffic jam in Fort Lee. Gridlock in Fort Lee around the bridge at rush hour is about as unusual as snow in the winter.
