WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Spooked by President Barack Obama’s low approval ratings, some of his fellow Democrats in tough November election races have begun their campaigns by distancing themselves from the White House and asserting their independence from Obama’s policies.

In what amounts to a survival-first strategy among embattled Democrats crucial to the party’s effort to keep control of the Senate, some candidates in conservative states Obama lost in 2012 are aggressively criticising his health care, energy and regulatory policies.

The group includes three incumbent senators, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Mark Begich of Alaska, as well as Natalie Tennant, who is seeking to replace retiring Democratic Senator Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia.

Ask these democrats for examples of how they asserted their "independence" from Obama during the past 5 years.

They have voted in lockstep with the slug and now is the time for accountability.

I would ask them if they have bothered to read the AFA that they voted for yet.

That'd be nice and all if the rinos were also trying to distance themselves from obama.

Go figure.

Can you imagine?!

Picture the reaction if Dick Cheney had said this.

Picture the reaction if Ted Cruz had said this.

“Ask these democrats for examples of how they asserted their “independence” from Obama during the past 5 years.”

Of course, they can’t.

They have a strategy that will make them angels again with the electorate; Republicans and George Bush will be the gremlins, the rich will once again be confirmed as mean and cruel, and Progressives will march into the House with increased numbers, along with retention of the Senate.

IMHO

...some candidates in conservative states Obama lost in 2012 are aggressively criticising his health care, energy and regulatory policies.

Policies they almost uniformly voted for and defended vigorously against evil Tea Party types like Ted Cruz and Michelle Bachmann.

If these voters fall for that crap, then they deserve everything they get.

They wouldn’t act that way if it were Bill Clinton.

Obviously, they are racist.

Apparently there is a large section of the younger side of the LSM who are not “nuanced” enough in their understanding of racism.
