It makes sense. It gives liberals an excuse and conservatives a reason.

When drinking increases you try hang gliding.

Austin, Texas...Iowa City, Iowa...bastions of liberalism...not low income people...the overpaid, leftist profs on these campii are not ‘low income’. These cities and their counterparts in other states are not low income. I at first thought that your premise might have merit, but after thinking of these examples, no.
And I have known some of these profs...when I lived in Lincoln, Nebraska. Heavy drinkers. One I knew drank himself to death in his ‘prime’. And what was more important for him and for his cohorts on other campii? Publication...

If they were talking cities only, I’d agree with you, and certainly the kind of liberal “useful idiots” you mention are the leading edge of the liberal infection. However, once they metastasize, they attract the hordes of “gibsmedats” that do all the heavy drinking, and do it in the kind of numbers that actually skew the whole state. Since it’s states the article talks about, I stand by my premise that it’s the horde of low-income layabouts that produce the numbers, not the ivory-tower airheads.
I could argue the point, but not tonight...you have a point too. Have a blessed evening. And enjoy whatever you might be bibing...to counter what ‘they’ are, of course :)
