Usually forgotten in the debates over illegal immigration is the class aspect. A good example of this is why the House GOP leadership embraced amnesty yesterday. For Democrats an embrace of amnesty is obvious: more Democrat voters down the road based on current voting patterns. The reason why Republicans would agree to such a plan brings out the class dimension.
I can only imagine the amount of money the Chamber of Commerce and other pro-illegal alien groups must be throwing at the House GOP leadership for them to embrace amnesty, a policy hated by almost all rank and file Republicans. Go here to read about the plan proffered by the GOP leadership which is barely disguised amnesty for illegal aliens. The desire of many businesses for a continuing stream of illegal aliens from south of the border, drawn by the lure of eventual legalization, as occurred with the 1986 amnesty, is a betrayal of our own native workers at a time of high unemployment. Senator Jeff Sessions (R.AL) explains this largely ignored aspect of the immigration debate:

never forget the us chamber of commerce, mot likely your local one, is happy to kick americans in the teeth, as they’re the force behind the rinos and moderate repubs pushing for this.
When the GOPe comes hat in hand asking for support this fall it will be VERY difficult to contain myself.
GOPe = NOPe
that’s my response to them.
Tip O’Neil assured Pres. Reagan that the border would be secured when the Democrats passed the 1986 Simpson-Mazolli Immigration Bill granting amnesty to the 4 million illegals here. He lied. The illegals stayed and invited their families to join them and the borders stayed open. Now we have 12-20 million.
How many more times will the Republicans be suckers? Of course, when the Chamber of Commerce is paying for votes with campaign contributions, it’s easy to see why these prostitutes cave to the Democrats every time. The Republican Party deserves to be annihilated after millions of illegals start voting Democrat in Texas and Arizona.
“The class aspect of the immigration debate is usually ignored, but it is real and biting. Elites get cheap servants and businesses get workers willing to take rock bottom wages. Ordinary Americans get to compete for jobs with illegal aliens and local communities and States get to pay for the increased social services required by this policy.”
The GOP is NOT caving on this issue, they have been on board all along. Caving is when you had a different view and then give up your position.
They aren’t caving - this is what they want.
They just haven’t had the guts to come out of the closet until now.
I dislike it when people claim to know the motives of other people or groups. For example, we can’t know if Democrats want amnesty simply to create more Democrat voters.
In much the same way, I don’t like it when Democrats claim I’m racist or uncaring because I oppose amnesty. That’s a trick used to discredit me rather than address the actual basis for my opinion.
So, what’s the big deal? When people ascribe negative motives to me, I generally stop listening to them. They have virtually no chance to change my mind on the issue by claiming I’m thinking something that I’m not. That’s is why I think we should be careful to NOT alienate people by claiming we know what they think.
Frankly, I haven’t a clue why Speaker Boehner (and the GOPe) is pushing amnesty. Does it really matter? Whether they personally mean well or not, the potential negative impacts of amnesty are paramount.
A caller to the Herman Cain show yesterday explained why Hispanics prefer democrats. It’s the word ‘democrat’. Mexican immigrants associate democrats with democracy. The word ‘Republican’ - not so much. Most Hispanics are not aware that the democrat party is the party of slavery, the party of the KKK, the party of dumbing-down public education, the party of higher taxes, etc.
I’ve been telling the RNC to get their $$ from the USCOC and amnestied illegals. It’s obvious they no longer need MY $$ or votes :(
They’re (Boehner, Cantor, etc) spineless traitors who’ve sold their souls for $$ over county.
George W. Bush would have torn down the borders if they could have.
Local Chambers of Commerce are just as bad.
Those local businesses love the cheap labor they can hire off the books.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Just before the 2012 election Univision ran a special on Fast & Furious documenting the carnage and slaughter of Mexicans facilitated by the weapons provided by soebarkha / holder. He won the hispanic vote 75%- 25%. They just want free stuff.
Nonsense. Hispanics are steeped in strongman socialist politics, and anyone willing to play Santa to give the the biggest piece of the action gets their votes (generally speaking). Bob
“George W. Bush would have torn down the borders if they could have”
Word!!!
The Republican Party is perceived as the party of stingy old white men. The Democrat Party is the perceived as the party of queers, hippies, and a rainbow of non-whites. Its as simple as that.
