Keystone opponents vow civil disobedience, vigils starting Monday

Published February 01, 2014 FoxNews.com

Environmentalists and other opponents of the Keystone XL Pipeline are ramping up their opposition to the project following the release Friday of a largely favorable State Department report -- vowing to hold vigils, jump into the November elections and even perform acts of civil disobedience.

The report raising no major environmental concerns bolster the hopes of the oil industry, some union groups, congressional Republicans and others that President Obama will soon approve the $7 billion project, after a roughly five year wait.

They say the Canada-to-Texas pipeline will create tens of thousands of jobs and make the United States less dependent on foreign oil.

However, within hour of the release of the report, opponents were pressing forward with a lawsuit to challenge the project, public protests and an effort to inject the issue into this fall’s elections.

Among the critics is a coalition of landowners and environmentalists that says there is still cause for denying a federal permit.

And farmers and ranchers in Nebraska are planning to run for seats on a state board that regulates power stations that are needed along the project’s route.

Meanwhile, national activists say they have recruited more than 75,000 volunteers willing to participate in civil disobedience, should Obama approve the project.

Well, if they’re going to lay down in front of D-10N dozers it could be time for a Rachel Corrie moment...

Why don’t they protest shipping all of the oil from N. Dakota by RR tank cars? That is far more likely to lead to a spill than a pipeline. Oh, that’s right, owebama and soros’ buddy buffet owns the RR.

Folks, it's just a pipeline.......

And one of very many. Having pipelines has not destroyed our country. It has made us competitive and provided lots of economical energy to much of the country.

Which refinery will produce the fewest pollutants from Canadian Tar Sands?

The “Greenies” vote seems to be with China.

BTW, how do the national regulations concerning discharge of pollutants from Refineries compare between China and the USA?

Surely, the Greenies have done their due diligence - - - - .

Do the liberals know we have an existing huge network of pipelines?

The liberals act as if this pipeline would be unique, crossing productive farmland, and rendering that farmland unusuable for agriculture, use scarce water resources in the dry Great Plains, etc. A few facts would go a long way, rather than hysteria about what would be just one more pipeline.

I have come to believe there power is slipping away. They need a major win badly

The '60s and '70s radicals who are the leaders of their "movement" and who have been infecting the government with their "second childhood" over the past decade or so, are retiring or dying off.

The current generation just doesn't have their zeal. If you held an anti-Keystone rally on the day of issue of the new "Grand Theft Auto," you'd probably have a pretty sparse crowd of protesters.

Moonbats will fight to the death to prevent it>|

The reports are in, this is a done deal. Does the left really think their own national level politicians will try and stop this now? They have no more excuses and it would be political suicide for them to try. Reelection is the only thing they care about so the pipeline will go in. The president may slow it down for awhile and Kerry will continue to be a puppet and dance as the president says but this pipeline will go in. There will be a clear decision to complete the pipeline before the next election campaign cycle kick into full swing. Remember that control of the senate is on the line. The socialist-left will have to swing back to the middle to get the votes needed to maintain control of the senate. They have no choice in the matter.

Anyone who obstructs the pipeline construction gets ONE warning to disperse. After that begin arresting them one by one.

They can get out when they figure out a way to replace the need for nuclear, coal, natural gas and diesel for ALL electricity production in the US AND replace the need for heating oil, natural gas/propane for domestic heat and hot water.

Actually its kind of funny how easily distracted they are. While they’ve spent years throwing the Keystone tantrum, other pipelines have undergone capacity upgrades with little notice.

The Embridge line across southern Michigan has been held up for a day or two a couple of times but is nearing completion.

Exactly. The Embridge line is doubling capacity with only a couple of short hold ups by scattered true believers.

“I think the affected States should get together and just go through and build the thing and just tell the Feds and greenies to STFU.”

Indeed. The states can build what they want to anyway, it’s just the final international connection that obama can prevent. Build the whole damn thing except the last inch and let’s see if that fucher has the balls to prevent the construction of that last inch!

When do we start.

Whenever THEY do ... And drop me a line if you need reinforcements. I'm not in North Dakota, but I'll find a way.
