Pipeline Opponents’ Hopes Now Rest Largely on Kerry
NY Times ^ | Jan 31, 2014 | SARAH WHEATON and CORAL DAVENPORT

The final report largely echoed the conclusions in earlier reports that the pipeline would not affect greenhouse gas emissions.

Pipeline opponents said they were now hanging their hopes on Mr. Kerry, who is expected to issue his conclusion on the pipeline in the coming months. An executive order signed by President George W. Bush gave the secretary of state the final say on cross-border pipeline projects.

“I think the secretary has proven himself to be a lifelong advocate for tough action on climate, and we are cautiously confident that he will, along with the president, make the right decision,” said Michael Brune, the executive director of the Sierra Club.

What was President GW Bush thinking?! He should have revoked his own executive order the minute he saw Obama was elected.

That's all we need, Kerry making the decision... :(

It is obvious from Kerry’s behavior that money is what is most important to him. If enough money if offered to him, he will agree to anything.

Always count on Kerry to sell out his country. He sold out his Swift Boat sailors in Vietnam, the POWS-MIAS, the Freedom fighters of Nicaragua, and is trying to sell out Israel.

The Keystone Pipeline is ripe for his betrayal.

Hope I’m wrong, but his record on doing what is right for our country is Zero. Doing what is right for Kerry is 100%.

Where did we got such leftist assholes like Kerry?

Doesn’t matter who makes the decision. It’s going to be no.

One of the stupidest moves George Bush made. Obama will tell Kerry to kill Keystone....and this disastrous move really will be Bush’s fault.

The ChiComs will be very happy with their Canadian oil though.

I agree
Depending on Scary Kerry, AKA Hanoi Jane Kerry, is not good.
He has let America down too many times.

Kerry is just a puppet for Obama. This is all just part of a strategy to delay and delay until Canada goes elsewhere - which they need to have done already. Obama is just stringing them along IMO.

When the cattle start lowing again about the high costs of energy and food, it will be good to remind them once more of how comrade obama has been making life much more difficult for them.

I was for the pipeline before I was against it.

Ya, the Chicoms can get our oil, then power their ships and planes and tanks, and then use our oil to conquer.

The Bush decision is proper executive delegation of authority. In matters international the state department should have the final say.

I know the fad is to bash Bush, but doing so ignoring the role of a CEO is rather foolish

Delay, delay, delay..........next thing we hear is the Kerry will be conducting his OWN study to insure that there has been no rock left un-turned. They probably won’t say when the study will begin or end either.

Actually, if Kerry is politically ambitious for another run at the White Hut, he will approve of this and go to war with Obama should Obama not sign on to it.

This will put the moderates on his side in a primary vs. Hillary.
