"Tybee would have to invest an estimated $134,000 in shipping and installation expenses but could save more than $400,000 in electricity costs over the 20-year life of the turbine."
====================

Is it me, or do the savings seem a bit skimpy?

=======================

On the face of it, yes. But, if one could borrow $150K@5% over 30yrs, then the loan would be $805/month & the electric "savings" would be $400K/20/12=$1,667/month.

So, it costs $805 a month to get $1,667 a month in savings.

That seems OK, unless there's more to the story [I didn't read the article, but am just going on the numbers presented.]

There's more to the story. There's *always* more to the story when the liberals are trying to sell us something.

Ask yourself: What's it going to cost to maintain these? The experience in CA is "A Lot."

Additionally, liberals always lie about the upfront costs, too. Well, I'm not going to just slap liberals for that, it's true for pretty much everything government does. Government always lies about the upfront costs. Projects almost never come in under budget, there are almost always overruns. There have been exceptions.
