Some of our Texas universities now allow concealed carry. I'm remembering Texas passed a law to allow universities boards of regents to allow it or not. I need to do some research on this to be absolutely sure of the law we passed in regard to this as I am fuzzy on this law. I remember when it was going through the legislature but I didn't keep watch on this and I should have as I'm sure someone will question it. I'll get back to you by Freepmail when I'm sure of my facts.
Here is correct information: On all Texas college/university campuses, a student with a concealed carry permit may have a gun in a car on campus. This does not extend to concealed carry in a building on campus. I still have to check to see if the board of regents have the power to allow concealed carry to instructors and other staff members. I specifically remember the board of regents is given power somehow related to concealed carry, and since it is not the students, must be employees. Will check further.
So, right now if there was a crazed nutcase killer in a building with a gun, students could head for their car, get their weapon and try to take the guy out. In that case, what would happen if the student who got gun out of car, went inside and killed the perp? Student just broke the rule and brought the gun inside. He should get a medal for breaking the rule and saving lives.
