I don’t know why the US is so apathetic regarding that. The Tea Party seems like a real force when it comes to national debt and immigration, but the gay “marriage” does not seem to phase them.
I can think of one factor present in the French. They have a reputation of great tolerance as regards sexual behavior in general. So they have inoculated themselves against the chief rhetorical weapon of the gay lobby: that the aversion to homosexuality is simply desire to kill someone else’s pleasure. No one would accuse the French of being prudes. This national trait allowed them to focus on the real problem with gay lifestyle: destruction of family as parenting unit.
