Was on a ski trip last week. One of our party was a former hippie-chick of the ‘60’s. She & her Vietnam-Vet husband were avid folk music fans. When I passed the News that Pete Seeger died, I couldn’t help but add, “The old Stalinist is finally dead.” She was none to pleased, but didn’t argue the point.
Good for you. I’m a Vietnam vet. For some reason “Stalinist” is the only epithet that really digs in, for lefties. Seeger was that in spades.
