Carvounis told those who apprehended him that he too was in law enforcement Security for the Governor of NJ is provided by the State Police. This is generally true of most states. Carvounis is a NJ State Police trooper.

Cop school 101. If you're gonna drive drunk, let your drunk cop friend do the driving. I don't care if you have to tie his hands at 10:00 and 2:00 and work the pedals yourself from the other side.
