Exactly. When they use the word “history” they mean “the state” which is the idol they truly worship.
I don’t know. Those who were hotly in favor of embryonic stem cell research are already on the wrong side of history. Given enough time, an alternative will be found.
When it comes to the topic of how one is treated by history, I like this story even though it may be apocryphal:
Supposedly on August 9, 1974, Kissinger said to Nixon that history would treat him much more kindly than his contemporaries. Nixon responded by saying it depends on who writes the history books.
If that story is true, it’s one of the smartest things Nixon ever said.
