Mark Zuckerberg Affiliated Group Blast Airwaves to Back House GOP on Immigration

House Republicans looking to garner support for leadership's immigration-reform principles are about to get a little help from a group with ties to Mark Zuckerberg.

Americans for a Conservative Direction is the GOP arm of pro-immigration reform organization FWD.us, which is backed by the Facebook chief executive. And they will be airing roughly $750,000 worth of television and radio ads across the country, according to a source with knowledge of the ad buy.

The ads, which will air for 10 days on radio and cable television, describe the drafted principles unveiled to the Republican Conference during their retreat as a "conservative solution." Highlighted elements include border security and conducting background checks on those in the United States illegally. The announcer states the proposal is not amnesty. Children are shown while the announcer says the plan offers "a chance at the American Dream for those brought here as children."

"Step by step, House Republicans want to fix the immigration problem, which will strengthen our economy," the ad declares.

The next few weeks will be crucial in the immigration-reform debate, as members of the GOP caucus begin staking out their positions on the principles and as leadership figures out where a bulk of the lawmakers are in terms of support. Additionally, FWD.us is looking to sway opinon on the Hill with a memo attempting to discredit some groups opposed to reform as "anti-immigrant."

The GOP are so incredibly stupid for getting into something like this now. Goes to show how much money the Open Borders Lobby is spreading around.

I’ve also seen the ad a couple of times and you’re right, Zuckerman is a full fledged, card carrying liberal.

At least he is, in public.

An open letter to the GOP Members of the House

As a Representative in Congress, you took this Oath:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

"Support and defend the Constitution" it says. Did you see that? That document requires, per Art.4, S.4, that

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."

An invasion is what we are suffering. That invasion has accelerated with each "comprehensive immigration reform" previously enacted. Instead of another disastrous reform that yet again increases the incentives for millions more to try their luck crossing the southern border, a Representative who took his Oath and the Constitution seriously would be pressing for what the American people have repeatedly said they want - not what Senator Schumer, Zuckerberg, Mexico, some border state farmers and homebuilders or the Chamber of Commerce rent-seekers want. That is:
  1. secure the border in a transparently verifiable way;
  2. end the anchor-baby interpretation of the 14th Amendment;
  3. enforce eVerify without exception and with severe penalties;
  4. no government benefits beyond critical emergency care (and that ought to be billed back to the Mexican government); and
  5. NO "Path to Citizenship" - ever - for anyone who has entered the US illegally.
Any bill that does not accomplish these five things is unacceptable. It is de facto amnesty. And it will inevitably encourage millions more illegal entries.

If the GOP is complicit in this amnesty fiasco, either by taking up the Senate bill or through some piecemeal slight of hand with a series of House bills such as we hear are being cooked up this week, the GOP will cease to exist. It will not survive through the 2016 elections. The people will shun the over-tanned, glad-handing, backslapping quislings and look elsewhere for leaders who actually have the spine for the fight. Make no mistake - to me and to many, many others, amnesty is the GOP's Rubicon. Cross it at your electoral peril.

Obama has Zucky on one side and Steve Jobs on his other. Other Silicon Valley big shots seated around the table. I have to think all are Obama voters.

Who cares what this so-called GOP does? They aren’t actually Americans, let alone the kind of people thinking citizens would bother getting off the couch to vote for.

Shameful. Those people are completely removed from the rest of us. They don’t give damn about our Republic or they would be in attendance supporting that Marxist, _resident or not.

The Republicans would do well to totally abandon all talk of “immigration reform” that does not include a fully defended border FIRST, other terms to be negotiated only AFTER the border is secured.

If they REALLY want to turn their big guns on something that is a sure-fire hit with the majority of voters, they should be keeping the deficiencies of “Obamacare” in their sights.

And also be gently touting the benefits of a free-market substitute for the failed “Obamacare” scheme.

Single-payer is NOT the only option when “Obamacare” fails.

The people living in the greater Washington DC region could care less about the rest of America and illegal immigration is one big joke to them. They like the cheap labor and ethnic restaurants they get

We are here to be sheared like sheep, to give them money (taxes) They have no use for us otherwise

You’re right.
DC’s real estate market continues to rise (soar) and we’re paying for that, too.

The Marco Rubio pro-amnesty ad has been running intermittently here in eastern Iowa for several months.
