They have been chasing her for 36 years?? What did she do, steal a loaf of bread?
lol
She was reportedly searching for a one armed man who committed the real crime.
"After pleading guilty to larceny in June 1976, Hayman was sent to the Women's Huron Valley Correctional Facility in Wayne County, Michigan."

a waste of money....its one thing to have her name out there as an escaped felon, and her pic, but “chasing” her?....
Apparently she didn't accomplish whatever she was going to steal.................
My first thought was “They got Angela Davis!”
Well, NOW I can sleep well tonite!!!
A dangerous 60 year old shoplifter has been finally apprehended!!
Do they UNDERSTAND what IDIOTS they look like?
Probably not. They are law-enforcement.
On April 14, 1977, Judy Lynn Hayman escaped from the Huron Valley Correctional Facility in Washtenaw County, Mich., south of Ann Arbo
I guess there’s no statute of limitations for this type of crime?
I’m sure she was discovered and picked up out of some routine but it just sounds weird. What else would they pick you up for after 36 years?
We have statute of limitations on stuff, I guess escaping isn’t one of them.
The comments to this article are interesting. Many people seem to believe that if you escape, and simply stay out of trouble until you are caught again, then you should be let out of your original sentence.
That seems like an awfully big incentive to escape from custody if you can manage to stay out of trouble until you are recaptured years later.
What they did do was keep her name active in the database for 36 years.
This wasn't a waste of resources, probably more a case of technology finally catching up with her.
She admitted she did the crime.
She should do the time.
This is past the statue of limitations for this crime. But this has nothing to do with that. She was CONVICTED and escaped.
That certain people should be allowed to flout the law.
I wonder if this is highlighted on their Facebook as a major arrest they are proud of?
lol
escaping from jail? probably not. lol
In kindergarten I took a bite out of another kid’s cookie during milk break. The teacher scolded me for it but it was probably still a misdemeanor.
Should I be looking over my shoulder?
That is a long, long time to be running. I mean, Forrest Gump didn't run that long. And for attempted larceny?? WTH.
