I agree with you, but I think after 36 years “attempted shoplifting” should probably have been minor enough to get her off a database. I guess government really throws nothing but liberty away.

When he got the official request from Michigan, the police officer exclaimed:
"You mean to tell me there a person living in San Diego illegally with fake documents? No way Jose!"

Will be the best thing that ever happened to her, after she sells her story rights for a Lifetime Movie of the Week.

And for attempted larceny?? WTH. While at the same time, in a parallel universe, the statute of limitations for raping a child expired in the Woody Allen case...

Okay. So she still has to serve the remaining sentence for her original crime... this makes sense. I wonder if she'll have to serve extra time for escaping?
If the statute of limitations applies, it has probably run out on that crime too.

There should be no punishment for escape, except for the jailers and guards.

Escaping from prison is a punishable crime, and should be. I was just trying to figure out how this might play out in court.

I’ll rest easy tonight that, if I try to steal something from another FReeper, I’ll get a mulligan.

She probably went through one of those routine saliva/blood test checkpoints.

A very large number of our politicians, local, state, and national are crooks who should be in jail and we are worried about chasing this lady.

“Attempted larceny...36 years ago?” More government vanity and waste.

Ok, so given that a "very large number of our politicians, local, state, and national are crooks who should be in jail...," how much time do you think should elapse before someone should get a pass? 5 years? 10 years? 20 years?
Seriously, if you wish to change public policy, let's get our legislatures on it.

"My first thought was They got Angela Davis!" Fat chance. Angela Davis, the avowed communist, can often be seen in her $70,000 BMW coming out of her gated community near Santa Cruz where she has lifetime tenure at UCSC. Like the community organizer come president she will never be accountable for her crimes because of her skin color.

With a crime such as this, after a certain amount of time, leave it alone. She would’ve surfaced long ago if she were living a criminal life. It seems she self-rehabilitated, and rehabilitation is supposed to be the purpose of jail time.

We have statute of limitations on stuff, I guess escaping isnt one of them.Statute of limitations refers to them bring chargers after a period of time. In this case she was convicted, sentenced and escaped. She still owes the time.
Not to worry once they waste the money bring her back home they will kick her loose.
