In WV the firefighters run the scene. Cops assist. We had a medic get threatened with arrest by a state trooper when he interfered. And yes, firefighters can have you arrested.

The frightening thing is the man with the gun thinks his personal judgment can overrule other first responders. This law enforcement attitude must be stopped.

I have a vague memory of this happening before here in so cal over positioning of fire vehicles. LEO’s want complete obedience from everyone.
I believe this is the case in most jurisdictions. I am thankful there are no interstate highways in the village where I am a first responder. Our one state highway is 45 MPH which keeps damage low to moderate in collisions.
On the other hand, the hose draggers are generally oblivious to the reality that unnecessary traffic jams will cause more accidents and more injured people. And yes, people do die in other accidents caused by traffic jams.
It isn’t just as simple as stop the world and pay no regard to the traffic problem. Both problems must be addressed, the first aid, and the freeway traffic.
But the cop should have handled that very differently. Retarded.
