That business about the cables is unsettling. Some reports (such as USA Today referencing CBS News indicate the fiber optic cables were “severed underground”. Possibly this is just bad reporting, but it would seem to me that even with some sort of above ground marking, if those cables were buried a couple feet down, severing them with rifle fire would be fairly difficult, especially if the shooters were not at a fairly steep angle above the cables. Am I wrong? Or maybe the cables were hit just as they went underground?
As far as the larger picture goes, this Jon Wellinghoff is a lib weenie enviro-whacko lawywer, and even HE sees the threat. I’ll bet neither Obambi nor any of his top advisers have ever experienced as an ordinary citizen a prolonged (weeks) power outage in a large area where most heating is electric, and temps are dropping to near zero or colder at night.
Of course, who wants to bother with effectively protecting America, when there is so much change to yet accomplish?
I’m not positive, but I believe it happened around the time of CWA union negotiations. It would not have been the first time workers sabotaged telecom lines. They like to do it before a walkout, leaving the temp workers to clean up the mess. So vandalism is assumed first. The area hit is hardly in the heart of Silicon Valley, it’s at the very south end of San Jose. Mostly residential and open space.
The so called powers that be dont seem in the least interested in the “fate” of we the people.
This attack seems like it was only yesterday. I pray that there wont be any further such attacks in our future.
The cables run underground, and the cable vaults are underground. The terrorists didn’t sever the cables by shooting them, but by lifting the manhole cover and getting into the vault and severing them there, underground.
