Senate GOP buoyant about midterms
The Hill ^ | February 5, 2014 | Alexander Bolton

Politics was at the forefront of Republicans senators’ minds at their annual retreat on Wednesday. There’s growing optimism among GOP lawmakers that their odds of becoming the majority party are on the rise.

GOP strategists have been touting the party’s chances of picking up the six seats they need to take back the Senate for months. Senate Republicans note their position looked much worse only a few months ago in the midst of the government shutdown, when the party’s approval rating dropped to a record low.

But hearing Wednesday from Stuart Rothenberg, editor of The Rothenberg Political Report and a respected handicapper, that they are slightly favored to win control of the upper chamber boosted their confidence.

Rothenberg's prediction echoed his newsletter’s public take that GOP pickups this fall will range between four and seven seats, and gave Republicans a better than even chance of winning control.

buoyant must mean cocky and overconfident

That's a problem. If they think they're going to win anyway, they'll choose RINO backstabbers who will spit in the faces of constitutional conservatives if they're elected. And a lot of them won't win without our support.

There's no point in having a majority if they're going to backstab us.

The buzz is "racist Dems" are planning to take truckloads of money Obama's promising to raise for them----BUT the Dems don’t want to be seen with him on the campaign trail....

Mmmmmmm......watta nice campaign ad for Pubbies......with revolving close-ups of the Dem candidate sucking up to Obama in better times.

My advice to them is to stop being ‘buoyant’ and get serious about fielding some decent candidates.

I’d say 1:1, possible 3:2 FOR.

Rep. Steve Stockman to oust Cornball.

Not sure if Dwayne Stovall will have the name recognition/experience to take on Corny.

Once the GOP gets control they better get real busy setting this country right. No pun intended. :-)

I can see the GOP has the best plan - they try to make life better for the rich and the Dems try to make life better for the poor. Should be a Seattle blowout with that game plan.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Not sure I understand your reasoning here. There are a whole lot more “poor” voters then there are “rich” voters. And, who are you saying will be “Seattle”..... GOP or Dems?

“The Pyrrhic victory Democrats secured for themselves [when Obama signed ACA into law] may prove not to have been a victory at all but rather an ever-roiling, ongoing, and recurring act of political and ideological self-destruction.”
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
“....ongoing and recurring act of political and ideological self-destruction....”??? Nah..... When you only have two political parties, the one who is “self destructing” at the moment always bounces back. How many political obituaries have been written for the GOP, after elections, through the years? After LBJ waxed Goldwater in 1964 people said: The GOP is done forever. After the Reagan landslide in 1984 people thought the Democrat Party was finished forever. It just ain’t happening. But, HOPEFULLY THEIR SELF-DESTRUCTION WILL LAST UNTIL NOVEMBER 4, 2014.

The Article is talking about current Senate Republicans being “buoyant”. “They” don’t CHOOSE the candidates, Primary voters do. We’ve just got to mobilize and pull off a Ted Cruz-style victory in all the GOP Primary Races.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________BULLS**T! Who wants “them” fielding our candidates? That’s our job; not the job of 45 GOP Senators in Washington D.C. Screw them!!!

Screw “experience”. We have too many “experienced” politicians in Washington D.C. We need “citizen” Representatives and Senators serving their constituents; not career, “experienced” politicians. NAME RECOGNITION??? Well, Stovall is campaigning long and hard and he is reaching out to Tea Party Chapters all over the State who can mobilize and GOTV for him. Linda Vega: The Latino Community is working under the radar for her among the Hispanic population. It’s all good!!! Let’s just work our butts off until March 4th and then work even harder for the Run-off Election.

To: Din Maker; y'all

A.B.C. (Anybody But Cornyn)

Right now, Cornpone is spending BIG $$ to smear Stockman. That tells me something - for some reason, Corny fears Steve Stockman. And, I’m good with Corny blowing through his war chest on these ads.

May the best ABC candidate surface and win...or at lease force a run-off. The TEA Party could certainly play a big roll in this.

With the improving chances for victory, the Republican Party must do all they can to energize the base ... and not do anything stupid like push amnesty for illegal aliens, continue to field left-leaning "moderate" candidates (i.e., RINOs) that they think will draw votes from the Left, etc.

Unfortunately, the unprincipled GOPEs in positions of party leadership are far more concerned with not "alienating" the cheap labor-loving big donors, the MSM and the Left -- which hates their guts anyway -- rather than promoting the principles of the base and protecting the Constitution.
