A few years back a similar situation took place at another high school, I think in Arizona. The plan there was to have a meal of BBQed ribs and collard greens and other items. Same sort of protest.

Such reactions raise at least a couple of questions:

Why is serving “soul food” considered insulting stereotyping? I don’t know of other ethinic groups who consider honoring their heritage with traditional food to be an insult.

And how can there still be school administrators who don’t know that it’s considered insulting stereotyping?
