These numbers come from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS), which requires such annual disclosures.
In 2013, PETA killed 1,792 cats and dogs, an average of 5 per day. The 1,792 figure represents 82 percent of all animals PETA took into its shelter throughout the year.
'This delusional animal rights group is talking out of both sides of its mouth on one side preaching animal rights, while on the other signing the death warrant of 82 percent of cats and dogs in its care. Labeling PETA as hypocritical would be the understatement of the year,' said Will Coggin from the Center for Consumer Freedom.
In 2005, two PETA employees were arrested in North Carolina after allegedly killing adoptable pets and tossing the bodies into a supermarket trash dumpster.
Trial evidence showed they killed animals they described as 'perfect' and 'adorable.'
Defendants Adria Hinkle and Andrew Cook were tried and cleared of animal cruelty charges in 2007, according to the AP.

I’m sure they were receiving funds from the Gov’t or private donations to do this. Just as Planned Parenthood makes money by performing abortions.
I guess that would make PETA the Planned Parenthood of the animal kingdom! Nice connection.
I don’t know if PETA receives federal funding, but they are listed in the Combined Federal Campaign charity catalog. They appeal for donations on the false premise that they care for animal welfare.
I love animals, so I donate to a charity that helps people to control feral cat colonies by trap-neuter-release methods. I won’t donate to anyone who wants to use my money to kill innocent pets.
I support a local no-kill cat shelter by helping out at it.
I beginning to think most of these “charities” are scams. The crowdfunding sites are full of them as well.
I remember almost sending a donation to one after Katrina but something didn’t feel quite right. Last year I read the owner had been arrested on fraud charges. For me, if I can’t visit the facility, I don’t donate.
One exception is Mark Levin’s pet project.
The hypocrisy of the left in action
PETA killing animals?
But don’t you see - it’s their feelings and motivation that are important.
They only kill the animals becausee they care so much for them.
That is why I do local in regards to animal rescue, period.
Thank you for helping out at a shelter. My fur baby went to the Rainbow Bridge on New Years Eve and I think once this winter ends, and I can finally stop crying over her, I may go to my local one and bring a new one home. I got her at that shelter, they are wonderful.
As for the hypocrisy of these PETA people, my mother would wash my mouth out with soap if I was to say what I want to say about them.
My condolencs to you. (((((((((((((Gentle Hugs))))))))))))))
Your welcome!
All I can picture is a doberhuahua eating Sarah Mclachlan’s guitar.
