Does anyone here even read the articles anymore? Did comprehension skills on our side just take a nose dive? To offer “chicken, watermelon, and cornbread” as a proposeful way to celebrate “blackness” truly is ignorant and, if not, then moronic. I would expect some liberal admin to come up with the idea. What I DON’T expect are many of the comments posted in this thread.

I had a teacher in High School in this same District, Mr Ted Ault at College Park High School who did a assignment on racism and he included derogatory words such as the N word and others of other races and the few Black students at the school got him fired for it. Crondolet is a private school and if I was the Admin I would tell them to “Pound sand”.

During the depression more than one winter my folks lived on a 55gal drum of sorghum molasses and a 100 lb sack of flour and whatever the old man could kill! They had an old milk cow and a a few chickens! Arkansas Winters can be unkind! Just because you have color doesn’t mean your people suffered more than others! Poor is poor no matter the ethnicity. One interesting thing is, you could read the news paper, from the neighbor who dropped them by, easily as it was the wall paper to keep the wind from penetrating the wood slats of the house!

I agree that conservatives do a poor job “reaching out”, PRIMARILY by NOT putting our black conservative leaders in the forefront ALL of the time. The only time the Republicans seem to emphasize our identification with blacks, women and Hispanics is during national conventions.
Tim Scott should be at EVERY press conference the Republican Senate leadership gives, for instance.
Erika Harold needs to be publicly applauded by GOP leadership....Star Parker and Mia Love, too.
What we DO NOT need to change is our values. This includes, I think, singling out one race for special treatment.
I am frustrated when I see Gallup polls that show the Clown at nearly 90% support among black poll respondents.

I do not consciously remember those days, though I was alive when they still existed.
Do you still think conservatives endorse such segregation? I think, from my reading of history, that race based segregation was on its way out through the machinations of society and law....without the need, really, for federal intervention.
For instance, the constitutional amendment eliminating the poll tax was pretty much useless, since nearly every state has ALREADY done away with the practice, and the others were in the process thereof.
Like I said, conservatives need to put a better effort at teaching and reaching blacks without straying from their principles.
Okay, yes, I get it. Yes, it was wrong. And it happened a long time ago.
