A record-number of people lost their power across the region thanks to a significant ice storm and power officials warn it could be days before everyone has their electricity back.

"Based on the current conditions and the damage across the entire region, we believe service for the majority of customers will be restored by Friday night," said PECO spokesman Ben Armstrong. "However customers in more heavily-damaged areas will be without power through Sunday."

PECO Energy, the largest power provider in the Philadelphia region, told NBC10.com the storm was the second worst in their history and worst winter storm outage ever with more than 600,000 customer without power at the height of the storm. More than 80 percent of customers in Chester County alone were left in the dark.

A record number of people affected, yet where is the OUTRAGE over the apparent FAILURE of Obama's FEMA to get relief and warmth to the citizens???

Generators, food, blankets, and other supplies should have been moved when THIS STORM WAS PREDICTED.

Anyone remember Katrina?

I just hope Corbet doesn’t get photographed hugging Obama.

Generators, food, blankets, and other supplies should have been bought by the residents. Relying on the government is suicidal.

Since it’s FEMA I’d expect them to respond with bottled ice water and AC units...

“Where is FEMA with generators and blankets??”.....

You're going to have to wait your turn. The Louisiana Gov. and New Orleans Mayor are just now getting around to letting them come in down there. (And, of course it will once again be Bush's fault). Patients, Grasshopper!

Yup. Not to mention the fact that government help drives prices up.

The thing I love most about living in a tiny town is the fact that people get out and help each other get things done.

"Generators, food, blankets, and other supplies should have been moved when THIS STORM WAS PREDICTED. "

People should be expected to provide their own.

WE've been through 7.9 shakers, Nov 3rd 2002, been through huge burns 40 miles across, burn clear across our community 2003, and experienced a 500 year flood during ice out of the Yukon in 2007 where the river & ice blocks cleared everything out 1/4 mile inward (houses, trees, snapped tele poles like match sticks). You are dang glad when FEMA shows up and they do. FEMA mainly brings all the local state & federal maintenance people together; clears the path of red tape. FEMA doesn't have thousands of employees, more an organizational command structure, no joke.

I don't like the Feds no more than the nx guy, but I realize FEMA is needed and; does have a purpose in disasters; have seen them in action myself. Watch your home and everything you own disappear in minutes, live in a tent, get water outta a spring, no food, ride everywhere on atv since roads are all gone, no elec, phone, or internet; you will appreciate FEMA coming to town too. Been there done that.

FEMA can’t get to the warehoused food, blankets, and generators.

All that stuff is stacked behind the crates of ammo, the MRAPS, and rolls of concertina wire.

My house is a bit off the beaten path and the power was restored 4 days after Katrina stopped blowing and pushing water. Some of the Southern States work very well with each other despite the lack of bureaucratic "oversight". Of course, there were a bunch of us clearing our own roads/driveways of fallen trees and such withing a few hours of the big blow stopping - that may have had some impact on recovery ops...

To all the people of Pennsylvania: brothers and sisters I feel for you, it’s hell all over. Here in the frostbitten mitten of Michigan we’re closing in on 50 inches of snow for just January and February. And more is expected. The average temp. for us this time if year is 33. We will be lucky to make it up to half of that today. And temps are ggonna be subzero again tonight. Sorry about the stuttering, that was my teeth chattering. Hang in there!

FEMA has hundreds of generator units of all sizes (Some are tractor-trailer sized) setting here in Fort Worth at the Federal Depository, you can see them from Hemphill Street that cuts right through the middle of it.

OK good luck with waiting on FEMA. Our worst nightmare is FEMA at our front gate. Have a good time in the camps plebe.
