This was reported by the French?

In 2002, the Canadian pair of skaters clearly won. French judge, Marie-Reine Le Gougne was pressured by the head of the French skating organization, Didier Gailhaguet, to vote for the Russian skating pair regardless of how the others performed. She admitted this to one of the official of the International Skating Committee.

The event referee filing a formal complaint about the judging. The IOC gave two pairs of gold medals - one to the Russian pair and one to the Canadian pair.

There's a history of corruption in Olympic judging in skating that makes the Canadians sensitive to these allegations.

I remember watching this- the Russians had a very obvious mistake in their routine- the Canadians were flaw less. It was just so apparent one of the Judges was bribed in favor of the Russians.
