In order to pay taxes to Democrats. What’s so hard to understand that?

Why didn’t Politico mention that everybody needs to be a taxpayer and work 12 hours a day for the next 20 years in order to pay off the ungodly Democratic national debt?

That is correct. There was a reason the founders declined to create an Income Tax. To them, the appropriate rate of taxation on income is zero.

Another old bromide: “When you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can always rely on Paul’s vote.”

JFTR, Sarkozy scrapped the 35-hour week in France. But that was to “harmonize” with the EU’s mandated 48-hour workweek (via the so-called “Working Time Directive”).

That only works if Peter can’t vote.

Politico Asks: 'Why Do Republicans Want Us To Work All The Time?'

Because no legitimate government is empowered or obligated to perform what would otherwise be a crime (mega-grand theft) , on behalf of those who choose not to work.

Letting the indolent starve to death does not distress me one bit, ethically, morally, socially, religiously or in any other sense.

Legal disclosure to the morons who can't distinguish party affiliation from IQs under 70: I am a lifelong registered democrat.

Why does the Demagogic Party want us to be taxed all the time, even after we’re done working?

Partisan Media Shills ping. Thanks lowbridge.

I disagree. The more Pauls you get, the fewer Peters you have. November 2012 proved there about 51 Pauls for every 49 Peters. It's official: The Majority has just figured out it can vote itself largesse from the national treasury.

A fatal tipping point has been breached, and I don't know if we can pull back from it.

Not a correction, but an addition: The Rats want us taxed all the time, even after we're done living. The Death Tax has pretty much killed the concept of a family farm.

it’s clear the CBO was talking about workers voluntarily reducing their hours in response to the law—not getting laid off or seeing their shifts scaled back.

I wonder how many bosses will go along with full time employees requests to cut back hours to remain subsidized in exchanges. If somebody is on a production line at a small company and the boss needs them to work overtime to fill an order, the employee can't just no..

I don’t think November 2012 proved that conclusively. It certainly indicated that there are far more shenanigans going on at the polls than previously believed. So yes, they have indeed disenfranchised Peter—and enslaved Paul.

It’s not a ‘good thing’ when middle class taxpayers have to pick up the slack for those who have decided, “I just don’t feel like working anymore, and hey, since Obamacare, I can still have health insurance, and some schlub who is still working gets to pay for it!”

We don’t care how much the Whiner/Moocher class works or don’t work as long as they support themselves in both cases.

And Paul is having the government wield the lash for him.

Sometimes these ideas are so derivative that their original sources is obscured in the re-telling. There was a fellow who worked out an entire system of thought around the notion that profit-based economies were exploitative toward the individuals in them...

The only connection which still links them with the productive forces and with their own existence — labour — has lost all semblance of self-activity and only sustains their life by stunting it.

...and that once the overhead of the system was removed such individuals would be able to support the "productive forces" necessary to run their society with far less labor than now, the remaining time left to "self-actualization" which was, after all, the proper point of life on earth. A lovely, seductive idea, isn't it? The fellow's name was Karl Marx (the quote was from his German Ideology). And no society actually constructed around those principles ever offered anything but long hours, low wages, and the absolute negation of anything approaching "self-actualization" except for the very few populating the ruling elite.
