Huntsman at 29%? No way. The poll’s gotta be flawed.
A Walker/Cruz ticket would work.
Look at Huntsman's total as "static". The poll didn't force anybody to make a specific selection. Therefore, it's actually a laundry list of everybody that the respondent would be willing to support.
Those who checked Huntsman were essentially checking "all of the above".
All of which makes the even lower totals for Bush and Christie even more damning...
Ayotte deserves kudos for winning a senate seat in liberal North East.
BOOOO to very bad candidates who lost senate seats in reliably red Indiana & Missouri.
It is not 29% out of 100%.
What is it then?
While you're at it, don't overlook the GOP establishment candidates who lost Montana and North Dakota.
You could vote for multiple candidates...
Look at the votes received by Cruz, Paul, Palin....they add up to way over 100.
I have nothing against any republican of any faction if they are GOOD candidates.
I will take any republican who can win. I follow Ronald Regan’s mantra to voe for the most conservative who can WIN.
A wiining candidate is one who is politically astute, has enough money to get his/her message across, has lot of of charisma and knows lot about issues including the Bush doctrine (a gotcha question but a good candidate would not look like deer in head lights).
I know.
Which is why I qualified my original post as follows:
The poll didn't force anybody to make a specific selection. Therefore, it's actually a laundry list of everybody that the respondent would be willing to support.
Those who checked Huntsman were essentially checking "all of the above".
And 29% of the 100% said they could support Huntsman -- which is implausible. And which is why I characterized the number as "static" -- i.e., the "don't know", "no preference", "haven't thought about it" segment of the sample.
If I was voting for 5 candidates, Huntsman could be the 5th choice easily. Huntsman would make a better president than Obama by a factor of 10. But that is not saying much.
Wow! Very shocked to hear that Tokyo Rove is on this forum.
Who knew?
But tell me, who is the other Bushie on this forum?
His filibuster brought attention to the epic fail that is Obamacare.
Republicans got a BIG political boost on the back of the publicity the filibuster brought, and then the establishment GOP squandered the boost by not capitalizing on the momentum and pushing for repeal.
Scott Walker is about as far down the conservative totem pole as I'd be willing to go. He's barely acceptable as a conservative.
I agree with you, but I think it has to be the case that many poll participants don't know who Huntsman is. I'd almost vote for Hillary in a presidential race against Huntsman.
the establishment GOP squandered the boost by not capitalizing on the momentum and pushing for repeal.
The House voted for it to repeal 43 times. I think that the Senate is the problem. However, Obamacare did not go away. Cruz gave us a little attention about equal to Wendy down in Texas. Scott Walker was put through a test when he was up for recall and passed with flying colors. If Cruz could accomplish SOMETHING I would be on his side but he and Obama both have the gift to gab without providing any accomplishments.
Hey! Boehner has all those “winning candidate” qualities you mentiom. Do you like him?
You betcha!
I don’t care what anyone says. I think Huntsman is going to surge soon!
(just kidding...)
Yes I like Boehner as one of the REPUBLICAN congress critters taking Speakership away from NANCY PELOSI.
I do NOT like him as Speaker of the House.
We should replace him with someone from Tea Party.
I am not one of your 100% my way or the Highway person.
I succeed in life by choosing the best option available.
Not necessarily my most desired option.
