Sacrebleu! At 2,500 calories, state dinner menu is triple Michelle’s ‘healthy’ lunch

By Dave Boyer The Washington Times Tuesday, February 11, 2014

The fattening state dinner served at the White House on Tuesday night for the president of France might prompt first lady Michelle Obama to tell guests afterward, “Let’s Move.”

They’ll need to burn off a few of the estimated 2,500 calories they’ve just consumed.

Rep. Rodney Davis, Illinois Republican and a critic of the administration’s school lunch requirements, called the high-calorie State Dinner menu “the height of hypocrisy.”

“Even if you’re estimating a small cut of steak, this is a menu where you’re talking 2,500 calories, which is almost three times as much as what the first lady and the USDA allow our school kids to eat in the school lunch program,” Mr. Davis said.

Mr. Davis, who said school districts need more flexibility in their meal options, has introduced a bill that includes the requirement for state dinners and meals served in the White House cafeteria to abide by the same low-calorie guidelines as school lunches.

The menu for the dinner honoring French President Francois Hollande featured a main course of dry-aged ribeye beef served with blue cheese, 12 varieties of potatoes and quail eggs.

The first course was American Osetra caviar, farmed from sturgeon in estuaries in Illinois, followed by a “winter garden salad.”

Lunch and Dinner are completely different meals. What is her demands for dinner caloric intake. That is what should be compared.

Twelve varieties of potatoes?

That’s more than the pies the Obamas have for holidays.

Cotton candy for dessert at a state dinner?

What’s that, to justify the cotton candy machine Michelle had the WH kitchen buy for late-night snacks?

I did not see any pictures of Lord Obama at this dinner. I wonder if maybe it was because this was the occasion he used to show off his new Field Marshal’s uniform. I am sure he has one that benefits the pResident of the largest Super Banana Republic in history.

WH dinner for France’s Hollande

The first course was American Osetra caviar, farmed from the estuaries of Illinois, paired with quail eggs from Pennsylvania and a dozen varieties of potatoes from farms in New York, Idaho and California.

That was followed by a salad of petite radishes and baby carrots on a bed of lettuce and splashed with red-wine vinaigrette made using honey from the beehive on the South Lawn. The salad was served in a spherical clear, glass bowl that resembles a terrarium.

The main course, dry-aged rib eye beef from a farm in Greeley, Colo., was served with blue cheese, charred shallots, oyster mushrooms and braised chard.

Dessert is chocolate malted cake, described as a modern version of a layer cake made with bittersweet chocolate from Obama’s native Hawaii, Florida tangerines and served with vanilla ice cream from Pennsylvania.

After dinner, guests can dip into a serving dish made entirely of sugar to sample fudge made of Vermont maple syrup, shortbread cookies made with lavender from Mrs. Obama’s garden and cotton candy dusted with orange zest.

The square and round tables are covered in blue with clear-backed chairs, while the oblong tables have mirrored tops.

The White House florist, who studied floral artistry in Paris, created French-inspired bouquets that are meant to evoke the feeling of a painting by Monet, the French impressionist.

The “deconstructed” arrangements — that means the flowers and greenery are not all in one vase but are in separate vessels — were made using quince branches, acacia leaves, white and purple iris flowers and bamboo.

This Administration is potato obsessed. First, Lurch gives the Russians a couple of large spuds as a state gift, now the First Grifters are serving the French a dozen different kind of taters.

LOL

What a bunch of low class clowns.

I think they are saving a big bunch of Tater Tots to fry up if the Israelies cowtow to Lurch's peace plan.

No pictures of the Mooch shoveling into her mouth like usual? Did they outlaw cameras again? Trailer trash would be offended if I called her that.
