Liberals have angrily denounced Justice Thomas’ recent reflection that the worst treatment he’s ever endured has come at the hands of “northern liberal elites,” rather than whites in the deep south during the Jim Crow era. Northern liberal elites, for their part, are quite positive that they know Thomas’ personal history better than he does. Perhaps the silver medal of nastiness would go to black racial grievance-mongers, whose venomous attacks on Thomas have spanned decades. Alvin Holmes (Racist-Montgomery) is merely the latest one to step up in the queue. He says he can’t abide the associate justice’s mixed-race household. Paging MSNBC…

Clarence Thomas was attacked as unqualified, and mercilessly vilified during his confirmation hearings. He was a brave soul to hold on through all that.
Then they said that he was not at the intellectual level of his colleagues. But after years of service, he has one of the best records on the court — at least from my perspective, and I have actually read several of the court’s opinions.
Clarence Thomas is thus courageous, honorable, moderate and restrained in hi behavior, does good work on the Court, is usually on the side of rational interpretation, and I like him.
His opponents are showing their own faults when they unreasonably attack him. He’s a darn good man.
Now, what is behind the attacks on Justice Thomas? I think that it is because his detractors are mostly politicians with strong ”herding instinct.” That means, they like to assemble support by themselves by clumping together interest groups. They get yappy like one of those little sheep dogs if someone who (they think) belongs in one of their herds breaks free. They worry that they are losing control — and I hope that they are.
Come on, now. He just “misspoke,” or was just being satirical, or was only being humorous. You know, the usual lib excuses. Or he was “taken out of context.” Thats another excuse they love to use.
I’ve never heard him speak, but my mind’s ear hears Foghorn Leghorn.
