Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas spoke at Palm Beach Atlantic University on Tuesday
The worst I have been treated was by northern liberal elites. The absolute worst I have ever been treated, Thomas said. The worst things that have been done to me, the worst things that have been said about me, by northern liberal elites, not by the people of Savannah, Georgia.

Having some experience living in both the North and the South in the 60’s, The North had the large scale defacto segregation with whites and blacks having no daily interaction vs. the South with both living in close proximity and having daily interactions (hence many instances of inter-personal mutual respect).
You nailed it. Growing up, we looked out for each other ‘in these parts’....unlike what Madison Ave and Hollywood would want you to think.
Even Maya Angelou said words to the effect that Northerners like black people collectively, but dislike them individually; Southerners dislike black people collectively, but like them individually.
Which is worse? I have seen the above in my own experiences.
He’s a damned fine, decent man. I’m glad he’s on the SCOTUS. He’s a voice of intelligence, sanity, clarity, and rationality.
Unlike four certain others on said bench...
I only find Scalia, Thomas and Alito to have their heads on straight...
I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin (The Berkley of the Midwest) in the 60s and I have to fully agree about the segregation.
I moved to Texas in the early 70s and found a completely different world than what I grew up with.
Note to Neal Young: “A Southern Man Don’t Need You Around, Anyhow....”
We don’t dislike them ‘collectively’. Just don’t like the ‘race card’ being played constantly and believe in ‘personal responsibility’.
I'M Superman!
Wow, Maya Angelou pegged it. That has been my observation, also, having lived in the North and the South.
The way I’ve heard it put before is that in the South they’ll treat you like a man but call you a dog.
In the North they treat you like a dog but call you a man.
!
I was born ten miles from the site of the first secession meeting in SC, my great grandfather was a confederate soldier. I don’t recall ever seeing either of my parents treat someone unkindly because they were not white. I have known some white racists in my life, many from the South but the only ones who went out of their way to be rude to someone simply because they were not white were from the North, the worst of all was from Chicago. I am now encountering racism worse than any I ever knew growing up but it is not white racism, it is ANTIwhite racism and the racists are black people. Not all by any means but enough to create a problem where no problem needs to exist.
This is government sanctioned antiwhite racism, it is quite obvious that preferences still exist but the preference is given to black people, not white people.
I may be the only one who notices this but I consider the TV game show “The Family Feud” to be one of the most blatant examples. There are two families on each show so to be fair there should be one black family on every fourth show, that would be one out of eight or twelve and one half percent which is about the percentage of black people in the total population in America. There is a black family on every single show. If there is ever a show without a black family it cannot be more than one out of fifty shows. This is obviously rigged, it cannot be otherwise.
Mr. Justice Thomas is my top name for greatest living American leader.
Liberals are hypocrits, Clarence.
Glad you figured that out, though.
Tolerant only when it suits thier needs
Completely predictable.
“...TED KENNEDY - a liberal northerner - sat there in judgment over Justice Thomas, ...”
My only beef with OUR side is not standing up, walking over to loud mouths like Teddy The Swimmer, and busting them squarely in the teeth for all the lies and filth they spoke.
I would last about three weeks in politics. My version of instant diplomacy is the “Bust-a-cane-over-the-liberal’s-head” method of negotiation.
