Ted Cruz: 'Hell Will Freeze Over' Before Establishment GOP Listens To American people
Breitbart ^ | 13 Feb 2014 | Matthew Boyle

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) told conservative radio host Mark Levin on Thursday evening that establishment GOP politicians will “never” listen to the American people.

“If we wait on the entrenched politicians in Washington, hell will freeze over before that happens,” Cruz answered when Levin asked whether Republicans will ever listen. “This is nothing new. The answers come from America, from millions of people standing up and holding elected officials accountable.”

Cruz, who coined the Twitter hashtag #MakeDCListen during the government shutdown episode, has often returned to a theme of forcing Washington D.C. insiders to listen to the public.

He noted that in the prelude to the shutdown, many Republicans preferred to push for spending cuts with the debt ceiling as leverage.

“A few months ago, when we were fighting trying to stop the disaster that is Obamacare, where a lot of Washington gray beards said, ‘we are going to fight on the debt ceiling. That’s where the fight will be,’” Cruz said. “It’s like they think the American people are a bunch of rubes, we don’t remember what they say.”

Wednesday, Cruz forced a procedural roll call requiring a 60-vote majority on the "clean" debt ceiling bill, despite Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's forceful urging he allow the legislation to go through with only a bare-majority vote. Cruz said Republicans should have united against the cloture motion, preventing the debt ceiling from being raised.

“If 41 Republicans had stood together and just voted no, the clean debt ceiling, the blank check for President Obama and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi want would have been denied,” Cruz said. “And for all of them who say I am just a crazy rebel, the last 55 times the debt ceiling has been increased, Congress has attached meaningful conditions to it 28 of those times. It's the

IMHO, Ted Cruz is right.

The old-line republicans see conseervatives as their real opposition - not the democrats.

After all - they want the same things the democrats want: access to the treasury and the power to make sure it goes to the right people.

The major difference between democrats and republicans is who they want to "help" with taxpayers' money.
They each have their own special interest gtroups and their own financial backers looking for a quid pro quo.

But those crazy conservatives want to end the gravy train, blow the Good-Old-Boy system to smithereens, stop the rape and theiving of taxpaying workers,
and go back to a constitutional government.

No wonder most establishment republicans fear and despise Ted Cruz more than Barack Obama.

Exactly correct. Quite frankly, it is a small minority that support and share our views (Tea Party). America is NOT coming around to the way we think. America does NOT support our policies. And they never, ever will if the GOP Elite do the explaining.

And while our America may be forever gone (I honestly think it is) I would at least like to try to let America hear the true conservative message and not that idiocy spouted by the GOP “leadership”.

We, Conservatives, ARE a minority. And when we keep saying “they aren’t listening to America” America goes, “well of course not. We aren’t you.”

We need to both not fool ourselves AND get the word out.

I’ve asked the RNC to delete my acct/info 5 times, now.

I’ve told them that they support nothing but establishment RINO’s (the Boneheads, McConnells, McShamnesty, McCornyns) - who support amnesty and everything 0 asks for - and that I only donate directly to conservative candidates or groups (TEA, Senate Conservatives, etc.) That RNC = DNC.

They refuse to stop sending me their propaganda-filled solicitations.

Yup. Thanks for the agreement. It seems to be an unpopular POV, with many around here seeming to think that all that is needed is for candidates to boldly proclaim the conservative message.

The problem is that a LOT of Americans don’t like the conservative message, quite possibly a significant majority. I believe they’re wrong, but that doesn’t change the numbers.

Mmmm....it'll be a long time before that happens. Are you trying to tell us what I think you're trying to tell us Ted?

As Americans, WE are used to patiently, and silently waiting for solutions to problems to come from the top down.

Huh? Not here. I find my own solutions to problems (trying not to re-invent the wheel along the way). My only hurdles are problems FROM THE TOP COMING DOWN.

...My attitude is one of finality. Scorched earth, burn it all down finality if something doesn’t break on the side of decency and honesty real damned soon...

I am feeling it, brother. I think that all sides know that things are going to come to a high point in November of this year. I sometimes wander into a nihilistic mood and want the freepin' economic crash to come right now so we can ever blame Obama.

It is a daunting thought to consider that the Tea Party/Patriots are the last firewall against a complete socialistic takeover of the world. Because when the Tea Part/Patriots fail, the Republican Party fails and America fails and so goes the world. All the while the idiot democrats want to politically annihilate the republicans so they can be the dominant rulers of...chaos.

What a pathetic and weak statement. Utterly gutless.

Do you not realize that most Americans know little about true Conservatism?

Do you not realize that the GOPe, the MSM and the RATs relentlessly distort and belittle anything Conservative?

I believe the right person can break through this evil and catch fire with Americans. I suggest you go to the site that seems to match you mindset -- DU.

If you are a Conservative (which I doubt) then you should be proud and confident in the face of evil. The vast American public knows clearly something is terribly wrong -- they just don't know yet that it is Statists from both parties.

When the curtain is finally pulled back and their nature truly revealed, then the evil Statists will be destroyed politically.

In all of Obama’s public statements, he has told the truth to US only twice: 1.) “We are only five days away from fundamentally changing the United States of America.”

and

2.) “I have a pen and a telephone, and I will use them to issue Executive Orders whenever Congress fails to act.”

Obama has thus defined himself to be OUR Dictator, and formally gave US fair warning of his intentions to do so.

What's disturbing is the number of people who still do not realize that.

a rouge dictator

Yes, he's that too

I like Cruz and agree with him on plenty, but he's wrong here. The "GOPe" were elected by their constituents, who are far more middle than Conservative these days, and that's who they're listening to.

The main targets of my comment that you read were two white males, both multi-Millionaires, always clean shaven with well-barbered hair - - -

Pardon me, but the noise from the incoming Obamadrones is making it difficult to type - - - This is not going to end well - - - .

Missed! As I was describing; both males spoke on TV without sweating, although the one without glasses appeared to have frequent eye allergies, shared phases were “American People,” and “getting things done with the other side across the aisle,” - - - - - - - - - .

A knock on my door - - -gotta close - - - -

“Henry has a brown Mustache.”

“The green chair is against the wall.”

I believe the right person can break through this evil and catch fire with Americans.

Possibly. I certainly hope you are right.

In the meantime, do you dispute the accuracy of what I said, or merely think it was "pathetic and weak" to state the truth.

You know, the most important step in any endeavor is to form an accurate impression of its difficulty.

Only so can a plan be formed to overcome those difficulties. To assume they will magically disappear, or that a magical person will appear to lead us to the Promised Land is not a plan.

To be fair, I don't have a plan either. But I do know that it starts with changing the hearts and minds of Americans via the culture. Politics is downstream of culture. Trying to change the culture or society by means of politics is going about it backwards.

The vast American public knows clearly something is terribly wrong -- they just don't know yet that it is Statists from both parties.

You have some actual evidence for this assertion, or does your assertion in your eyes make it a fact?

My whole point is that there is little evidence that you are right, and a good deal of evidence that most Americans disagree with you.
