Ted Cruz Is the Symptom, Not the Disease
US News & World Report ^ | February 14, 2014 | By Robert Schlesinger

Ted Cruz seems to be becoming something of a Republican bogeyman. One can imagine Republican lawmakers trudging home and telling their recalcitrant kids that if they don’t brush their teeth and go to bed, Ted Cruz is going to bring a mob of torch-bearing tea partiers over to take them away. But they should remember that Ted Cruz is a particularly irritating symptom, not the problem.

[snip] But make no mistake: He’s riding a wave of sentiment, not causing it. If there was no Ted Cruz someone else would fill that role; it might be someone in the Congress, like Utah Sen. Mike Lee, or it might be one of the professionally aggrieved outside conservative groups like Heritage Action or the Senate Conservatives Fund, who know a rich fundraising vein when they see one.

So go ahead, GOPers, roll your eyes at Troublesome Ted. But remember that there are many more where he came from.

Consider the source: “Anti-US Snooze and 3rd World Support”. Like some many other MSM rags, this used to be a magazine worth reading. About 40 years ago... Now, it’s not fit to shred and use as bedding for my pets.

Cruz is one of the only Republicans currently on America’s side.

For that matter, the democrats have completely sold out the USA.

America needs leadership. Not speeches. Real leadership, concerned with improving American’s living standards, and bring back jobs to America.

Cruz keep up the good work.

(and I’m not even in Texas)

Wrong, leftards!

Ted is neither the symptom nor the disease.

You are the disease!

He is the cure.

Who is this writer? Can’t figure out what or who he is.

It's Arthur Schlesinger's son. Big lib historian. Surely you read him in college.

To clarify: Arthur was the historian. Robert is (according to Wiki) the Managing Editor for Opinion at US News & World Report. And I'm sure he earned it without cashing in on his dad's name.
