Last month I found myself in the ER of a Quebec hospital thanks to a car accident.I was told,after having told the triage nurse that I had hit my head on something,that it would be 5 hours before I was seen by a physician.Having worked in an ER for 20 years I know that,just as a precaution,I would have been taken into *any* ER in this country within minutes...at least for an initial exam.

Amusingly enough, DU has a posting today from someone claiming that they sprained their ankle in France and had the positive experience of a lifetime in their healthcare system and it only cost $48.
Someone else posted an article about how beautiful, serene, and organized French treatment of cancer is, as opposed to chaotic, traumatic, and generally uncaring it is here.
I was unable to swallow the bag of salt (not just a grain) required to believe that.
