Obama: [Ugandas] Anti-gay law would 'complicate' relationship with Uganda

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. — President Obama warned Sunday that a harsh new anti-gay law in Uganda would “complicate our valued relationship” with the east African country, which receives hundreds of millions of dollars a year in U.S. aid.

In a last-ditch effort to derail the measure, national security advisor Susan Rice called Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni over the weekend and urged him not to sign the measure. The law includes a provision of life in prison for “aggravated homosexuality.”

But amid news reports that Museveni was intent on pressing forward, Obama said Sunday that the move would be “a step backward for all Ugandans” and would reflect poorly on the country’s commitment to protecting the human rights of its people.

“As we have conveyed to President Museveni, enacting this legislation will complicate our valued relationship with Uganda,” Obama said in a written statement released Sunday. “At a time when, tragically, we are seeing an increase in reports of violence and harassment targeting members of the LGBT community from Russia to Nigeria, I salute all those in Uganda and around the world who remain committed to respecting the human rights and fundamental human dignity of all persons.”(continued)

He does seem to spend a LOT of time promoting homosexuality.

What the hell has happened to the USA?

The Right Wing has a lot of wrongs to right when it regains power.

All of this evil must be undone, and soon.

Why should other nations constitutionalize perversion and sodomy because Obama, Pelosi, Schumer, Boxer, Feinstein, and Reid support it?

This is a Christian country. Have you ever seen him call out any Muzzie countries for their laws against homosexuality. I really do want examples if you have them.

Sounds like a plan.

Round them up and drop'em in Manhattan, then mine the bridges.

Relationships are two way streets...

Uganda gets 100's of millions of US taxpayer dollars...

What do we get ?

Men having sex with other men, and too often with boys, does tend to complicate a relationship.

As Phil Robinson indicated, when the driving force in your life is another man having his way with you from behind, then a lot of other things around you are going to be a bit out of kilter too.

“What do we get ?”

We get to turn them into a gay country. Lol.

Seriously, this BS should be an impeachable offense. Congress never voted for this crap when it appropriated the money. Obama is basically paying off the Ugandan president with foreign aid money to enact pro gay legislation.

From this website…..http://www.aidshealth.org/africa/Uganda

Since the 1990s, Uganda has been struggling with HIV and AIDS. At the peak of the epidemic, 18.5% % of people in Uganda were living with HIV. The government’s policies have helped bring adult HIV prevalence down over time, but to this day only about 58% of all HIV positive people in need of antiretroviral treatment are receiving it. Success in the fight against AIDS remains in jeopardy as long as ART isn’t accessible to everyone who requires it. Population: 33.6 million People living with HIV: 1.2 million

I think it tells you all you need to know when some foreign ‘leader’ decides to dictate how you should be running your country when it is clear that the policies said ‘leader’ would like to see you implement would put essentially kill more people.

Uganda is an important enough country from the foreign policy perspective that it is not worth damaging relations over their law for their people.

So discreetly, some Republicans should let the Ugandan leaders know that when the political tables have turned in the US, the Republicans will restore anything that Obama has taken away from them, and likely sweeten the deal with some trade preferences, if not directly with us, then with some of our allies.

Uganda is more than 80% Christian, so for example, they would make a fine trading partner with Israel. It would also make a direct route for trade to the sea for South Sudan, already friendly with Israel, through Uganda and Kenya, another Christian nation.

By doing so, they would undermine Obama’s caustic and coercive foreign policy, which is going to have to be reversed in any regard, so that we can restore relations with out friends *and* enemies, to where they should be.

Those Ugandans are nothing but a bunch of uncle toms! They've no doubt been hoodwinked by racist rednecks, because "everyone knows" that Blacks and homosexuals are natural allies. After all, there isn't any Biblical literalism in the Black community, is there? No siree! In fact, the reason racist rednecks went around lynching Black people a hundred years ago was because Blacks were already left-wing intellectuals who mimeographed and distributed Origin of the Species throughout the oppressed theocratic South.

And now after centuries of being forward-thinking scientists, materialist philosophers, and revolutionary intelligentsia you suddenly have these shameful and absolutely un-Black laws against homosexuality cropping up in Africa, that land where Marx and Darwin were born!

You just know that has all got to be Rev. Billy-Bob's fault![/heavy sarcasm]

Absolutely NOT. I am sick and tired of hearing about it, especially from the likes of him. Get over it, what people do with their own sexuality is of no concern to me! Or most people I know. It has NOTHING, sip, zero, nadda t do with foreign relations, with star power if you will, OR with sports! The whole subkect is shunned in my house.
