resident Obama is launching a new initiative to help young men of color. It’s called My Brother’s Keeper.
The President told Charles Barkley in a television interview last night that he wants create special educational, mentorship and apprenticeship programs – for a specific segment of the population.
“We’re going to pull together private philanthropies, foundations working with governors, mayors non-profits and we’re going to focus on young men of color and find ways in which to create more pathways to success for them,” the president told Barkley.
He said he wants to expose young men of color to career options that could pay as much as $35 an hour.
“Across the board from the time they’re young all the way to their first job, we want to help more young African-American men and Latino men succeed,” he said.
I applaud the president’s initiative – but what about the young, white man looking for a job?
Where are the special programs designed to help him get a leg up in the world? Where are the mentoring and interning opportunities for white kids from impoverished neighborhoods?
The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. once had a dream that his children would one day live in a nation where they would not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
Let’s hope in the future that President Obama applies that same standard when it comes time to helping young men find jobs – no matter the color of their skin.

Hollow words; the teachers’ unions that own the Dem Party will never fix what ails “young men of color”. They are directly responsible for passing them through school while they never learn to read & write.
Forget it, kid! If you’re White, you are the enemy in the eyes of the occupant of the white hut. Anyhoo, like you said, Al, I don’t need, or want, his help either. My mother just passed away and I need to get back out in the work force, I found a job, doesn’t pay as much and it is for survival, but I did it on my own.
Too many whiteys can’t find work, and they’re entitled to the same freebies as people of color.
Being your brother’s keeper means clubbing to death those who you don’t consider your brother. Namely whitey.
This sounds a lot like affirmative action. Which is how we got our current president.

I am guessing that the “pathways to success” that B0 is wanting to create don’t have much at all to do with “stay in school, work hard, work hard, work hard”. Probably something that puts the “young men of color” to the front of the line.

The one’s I’m thinking of need to be shipped off to the farm system where they can first be taught how to grow some brains.
as others have echoed here from their own experiences, they are told “these programs aren’t for white men, white men pay for these programs.”

He’s a racist. Why should White taxpayers sacrifice to see that their children get an education, develop moral character that keeps them out of trouble, and teach them the value of work and then have their children passed over for jobs because government bureaucrats want a minority member to have that job? Whites are getting fed up with paying for this discrimination against their sons.
“Eggshell”? That’s the color Dad always painted the ceilings. That ain’t white. You want white, think “Snow.” “Eggshell” is a descriptor of a “person of color.” “Snow” is the descriptor for a person of pallor.

I am about as white as you can bet but I have been retired 6 years and do not want to go back to work. I have given myself a title of “Retirement Engineer”.
Reverse racism is still racism, and there is no redeeming social benefit in “affirmative action”. This is merely an attempt to formalize and extend an undeserved and inherently unfair form of favoritism.
White liberal guilt, and those who would play upon it, is ultimately among the most cowardly of appeasement tactics, responding to “political correctness”. The “Peter principle” is pushed way past its natural limit, in that the ultimate failure is normally only one level beyond his or her competence. This program being offered would push the ultimate failure many steps beyond the real level of competence.
We have already seen the effects of that, with the Current Regime now squatting in the White Hut.
