A 4-year-old Syrian refugee who was discovered alone in the middle of the desert was reunited with his family across the border in Jordan, a United Nations official said Sunday.

The boy, Marwan, had apparently become separated from his mother when he was spotted by humanitarian workers for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. According to the group, the boy was carrying a small plastic bag.

Andrew Harper, a UNHCR representative to Jordan, tweeted a photo of the unusual discovery.

“Marwan was safely reunited w his mother soon after being carried across the #Jordan border,” Harper later tweeted.

As long as he eschews Mad Mo’, he’ll be fine.

It is good that a little Syrian boy was brought to more safe conditions, and Yahoo, using the news like they always do, sets the emotional hook and then blames Russia for the problem by quoting John (served in Vietnam) Kerry:

"Russia needs to be a part of the solution," Kerry continued, "and not be contributing so many more weapons and so much more aid that they are in effect enabling Assad to double-down, which is creating an enormous problem.”

Last I heard, Russia was contributing to the solution by preventing Obama from pimping out the US military to Saudi Arabia, and starting WWIII, by supplying weapons, MANPADS, and sarin to Al Queda, Libyan rebels, and Syrian rebels that slaughter Christians.

Not as hard as those who are known for strapping explosives to kids.

Makes you wonder what is ahead for him...hopefully he’ll remember the people in blue who rescued him for a very long time.

The parents are disappointed because he dropped his bomb vest and didn’t make it to the Jewish market.

Here's the group wandering the desert... family was "20 steps ahead".... Clearly distressing but Kid didn't arrive alone as such. (Not unaccompanied minor)

Looks like him with these people 'before' he was found after temporarily seperating from his family...

Seeing the suitcase in the forefront he couldn't have been that far from the group.....

Back in the 80s I heard a similar, but even more melancholy story, from an old Armenian man in Australia.

As a little child - only about 3 years old - he was found by Beduins walking in the Syrian desert. They picked him up, and tracked back to where he came from. There was all his family, lying dead, perished from lack of food and water. They were part of the huge forced exile of Armenians in the early 1920s.

The Beduins took him to Damascus, where he was in a Christian orphanage, then they were able to send him to Australia. Many years later, he returned to northern Syria, and thanked members of the tribe who found him.

Nice story, thanks.

The Middle East is such a mess, so many innocent people who once had lives are now homeless and shuffling from place to place looking for…what? A new home? Not likely. A place to sleep tonight? Their next meal? I cannot even imagine living under these conditions.

The brutality in Syria is ghastly. A short time ago, it was a country that, for the most part, worked. Not perfect, but they did have an economy, religious freedom, a culture. How long until they have those essentials again? Ever?

Is this all the terrorists’ doing? Al Qaida? Who stirred that pot? Who turned up the heat? Mind boggling.

That’s nothing. My sister and brother lost track of me when I was about three. A trucker found me up on the highway five blocks away and got me to a cop who returned me home (I had a name/address bracelet on me - like a dog). Back in the day I guess when a child was found wandering the highway the cops were good with “Oh - you’re the older sister - here you go. Keep a better eye on the kid.”

Everything would have been okay until I started jabbering about “Pee Man” “Pee man car” at dinner in front of mom and dad. My sister probably wished SHE was lost in the desert about that time when she had to explain what I was talking about!
