I can only afford the marked down items that say “Better Grill it and eat it today.”

Sells at half price and tastes pretty good grilled and covered in fried onions and peppers.

Me too, but I move down the aisle a bit to the "Only Slightly Diseased" area.

“Nor are they claiming to have found any contaminated beef products”

“is recalling approximately 8,742,700 pounds, because it processed diseased and unsound animals AND carried out these activities without the benefit or full benefit of federal inspection”

Probably skipped inspection when they processed the diseased animals. That’s usually the way it works.

How do they skip inspections on 8.7 million lbs of beef for a full year’s operations? Inspectors out for a long donut break?

reading this, it sounds that using some of the diseased animals parts could possibly be used IF inspected...is the issue here that the inspection did not happen?....not that the meat used is any different than normally used?...

since the days of Tyson I've never trusted govt agencies....

I don’t think I will be eating any more dim sum.

Just stay away from the beef siu-mai and other beef dim sum. Pork and shrimp dim sum should be fine! I have friends that own a pig farm in Petaluma and the pigs are healthy.

I’m sure the meat was fine, it just didn’t have the Approved Union stamp on it.

I’m sure there’s gotta be a way the lame stream media can flip this somehow and blame Cruz and the government shutdown.

“How do they skip inspections on 8.7 million lbs of beef for a full year’s operations? Inspectors out for a long donut break?”

They don’t skip the inspections for everything, just for the sick and diseased animals. But when those kind of animals get mixed in, the inspectors don’t know which batches may have been contaminated so they have to recall everything during the time when the plant was skipping inspections.
