Todd Akin was not a Tea Party candidate he was a stubborn idiot though.

Correct!! There were two other candidates that were more "tea partiers", although as a congressmen Akin was a good conservative. He was encourage to run for Senate by party people. As soon as he made his comments, the dropped him hard and blamed the tea party for nominating him.

Sarah Steelman, who was supported by Sarah Palin, was no Tea Party candidate...she had all the GOPe and insider support....and finished 3d in the primary. She also got beat by the two Conservative candidates, Akin and Bruner

Real Conservatives in MO voted more for the two actual Conservatives...PhonyCon Liberals got upset and worked w the Liberal Media to sandbag Akin...and helped re elect McCaskill
