It is scientifically proven that all things being equal, more co2 should result in higher atmospheric temperatures.
And frankly, that statement holds true for nitrogen, oxygen, helium, fill in the blank with the gas of your choice.
However, all things are not being held equal, and the effect from co2 on earth’s atmosphere is likely near negligible.

The moon gets really cold because it has zero atmosphere and it does not matter if the atmosphere is Oxygen or co2.
Atmosphere is any gas that retains heat. More gas (including c02) means more retained heat.
