Most politicians are dumb-asses. They read what's in front of them, and repeat the platitudes their aide tell them will get votes, but behind the $100 haircut and $10,00 smile, they can't think further than their self-absorbed narcissism will let them.

Let us see... a mexican citizen that is here illegally is lying about a man that is running for public office in a State that he and his brethren dream of making into mexico again. Not buying it... the whore that abandoned her husband and children does not deserve to be elected and this man does!

Patrick's an idiot to think that this would not come out and be used against him, especially given his stance on the issue. This is not a case of hiring a landscape service, say, who then employs illegals. This is nearly impossible to avoid in TX. Here, he was the direct employer and enabler.
This
... his formerly illegal alien, now U.S. Citizen, former employee ...
is a real problem.

Typical Karl Rove hit for Dewhurst. But Patrick should have fessed up earlier.

I was ready to say he’s through, but then look at the date . . . 1986. The whole immigration climate was completely different back then, and DP has had plenty of chance to legitimately mature on the issue. No particular problem with the foreign former illegal, as he complied with the ‘86 law designed specifically to deal with folks like him.
Main problem would be if he really did conspire with the Mexican to have him re-enter illegally.

Karl Rove and the GOP-e need Dewhurst to win. I think this hit by Rove indicates Dewhurst might not be polling high enough for the runoff. Or they would have held it back until the runoff.

Doesn’t matter to me, I’m voting for Jerry Patterson for Lt. Governor.

...the whore that abandoned her husband and children.." That's hardly the inclusive, tolerant language we have come to expect from today's Republican Party!

I don't doubt it. And if the hiring happened in 2006 instead of 1986 I'd say Patrick was dead meat. As it is, it makes for a crappy headline. I didn't even know that Dewhurst was trying to make a comeback. Nice way to make a living I guess, and Lt. Gov. is reputedly extremely important in Texas compared to most other states.

They had to go back to 1986 to find this???
The country was way different back then, and Reagan granted amnesty (he said it was one of his biggest mistakes)

Patrick supported Dewhurst against Cruz.
Patrick is the candidate who has lied about the other candidates on illegal immigration.
I've never been a fan of Dan Patrick.

This isn't Rove's doing.
If you had read the article you would have seen that Jerry Patterson hired a PI who found the former employee. It is in retaliation of Patrick lying about the other candidates on illegals.
Patterson had called Patrick a "pathological liar."

Nothing against the guy, but this is disturbing. He's the midpoint in the transformation of Jeb Bush and Lindsey Graham.
