American Thinker ^ | 2/19/14 | Thomas Lifson

Posted on 02/19/2014 6:29:48 AM PST by BlatherNaut

The federal government is wasting an astonishing hundred billion dollars a year in improper welfare payments to recipients not entitled to them. This is an amount of money greater than the GDP of most nations on earth, more than Morocco and within striking distance of Hungary. The figure comes from a study by Veronique de Rugy and Jason Fichtner, who produced the following chart based on the OMB's High-Error Programs Report

It does not matter, as long as you don’t get what you earn liberals only care about distribution of income - someone got it and spent it so it was a local stimulus payment.

Uh huh... and THESE are the same administrative bunglers who will direct our ‘health care’ ...

Can’t wait!

How many decades upon decades has the US government had to get it right, so to speak, on managing programs like this?

There is perpetual, pervasive mismanagement and a complete lack of accountability.

On MY dinky job, if I even DREAMED of the kind and number of errors and omissions THESE jerks routinely commit... I would have been out the door LONG ago!!

They are only considered “improper” if the recipients don’t vote democrat.

I have no problem with public support to people who really need it.

I was referring to the pretentions of the headline.

From the article:
Interestingly, though Medicare fee-for-service is the biggest drain in absolute terms - wasting nearly $30 billion in 2012 - it’s far from the worst offender on a dollar-for-dollar basis. The Earned Income Tax Credit is responsible for $12.6 billion in improper payments, almost a quarter of what the program spent in 2012.

&&&&&&

This fact of the IRS shoveling out billion of dollars to scammers every year should be a much bigger story than the daily rewind of Chris Christie’s control of highway access roads.

But it is ignored. So I have to conclude that the power structure in DC is OK with this “redistribution.”

If my math is correct, assuming $1000 EITC for each child claimed as an eligible dependent, there are almost 13 million fraudulent children in the IRS records
and
about 39 million eligible children whose parents are working at low-paying or part-time jobs.

I don’t believe that all of these ‘families’ exist on the incomes that they claim.

“I was referring to the pretentions of the headline.”

Obama is trying to bankrupt the nation.

So any controls on government handouts that slow down spending are counterproductive as far as he is concerned.
