Probably had a crush on him and was hoping he could convince the other student to reciprocate his feelings. I don’t see what the problem is. They want to be recognized for what they are, and when other people react differently then they desire, they throw a hissy fit. This would be like putting a girl in a room with a creepy guy to sleep for the night. No one wants to feel uncomfortable when trying to sleep.
