Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson on Wednesday ordered the cancellation of a plan by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency to develop a national license-plate tracking system after privacy advocates raised concern about the initiative.
The order came just days after ICE solicited proposals from companies to compile a database of license-plate information from commercial and law enforcement tag readers. Officials said the database was intended to help apprehend fugitive illegal immigrants, but the plan raised concerns that the movements of ordinary citizens under no criminal suspicion could be scrutinized.

Stay out of the big cities is what someone once told me back about twenty years ago. Don’t know exactly why that person told me that ... then started thinking and realized they might know something. Then .... well I went to sleep for a long time but wound up inside and then outside (way outside) a big city. Well there is one two hundred miles to my south and another one twenty-five miles east but hey am becoming more self sufficient and do keep the gas tank topped off ... in case I get a change to rabbit, if necessary. Only one problem ... Back thirty five years ago ... about twenty miles north ... the Soviet Union had that area targeted. Not certain why because have only heard rumors. But if am still that close to the target area of the former Soviet Union and that area is still on the list ... I have nothing to worry about. I’ll finally get some rest.

It’s a sad and sobering feeling when one’s first thought upon reading this is; bullcrap.
How tragic it’s become to have no faith in your government.
It means their IT department ducks so bad that they couldn’t make the darn app.
My precise immediate reaction, too. They NEVER give up on liberty-thieving ideas. The bastards will sneak something through under cover of darkness. And that something will far worse than what they accidentally leaked to the public, too. I’m guessing they are launching mandatory government-issue RFID tags and numbered tattoos at birth with compulsory check-in at your local FedGov Office of Identity and Movement Control every 30 days.
Bull crap. They cancelled SAYING they were going to do it.
The absolute rules of government on all levels:
1. All plans are done in secret.
2. All plans are approved prior to public announcement
3. Public input is given so that it appears that their suggestions or comments will be taken seriously.
4. In all cases, regardless as to how long it takes, the plan will eventually become law.
5. Any action stated by government that the plan has been cancelled is a lie....PERIOD.
