The book I need was scheduled to be available on December 30, 2013, but when I looked online again for the title in early January it wasn't there. I called and the sales agent on the phone took joy in insinuating that the volume I needed was not available... because Ted Cruz personally shut down the printing presses with thehis government shutdown.
So, here I am about to go see if they pulled their heads out of their asses yet and have this book I need... and I just know I will be disappointed again... but I see THIS press release.
Well, look at this, they can't "publish" books, but they need to CHANGE THE NAME OF THEIR 153 YEAR-OLD GOVERNMENT AGENCY!
Seriously.... this is the sort of bills that get introduced by these morons in Congress??? I mean, think of the cost to the taxpayer to just reprint republish all the letterheads, forms, documents, &c. for all of this?
I can think of some other agencies that need to be renamed. Better yet, just eliminate those agencies completely.

CFR?..................Council on Foreign Relations?........................;^)
Propaganda instead of Publishing would better, but, that would compete with the White Hut.
...and in a few years they will introduce anothe rbill to change the name to the Government Media Office or some such...................nice to know our senators are taking care of the really, really important stuff and not fiddling around with worthless junk like jobs and the economy and immigration...........
And it would ONLY cost several million dollars to change all the printing and letterhead and business cards and invoices, etc. that have the old name on it
It’s only tax money
Meanwhile, The FCC is putting "monitors" in newsrooms, The EPA is virtually putting the coal industry out of business, The IRS continues to target Conservatives.
Thanks, Mr. Chambliss. What would we do without you.
Certainly seems wasteful to me. As technology changes, the terms used by our government change with them. For instance, is anyone seriously arguing that we need an amendment to update the first amendment to include television or internet reporters under the protection of freedom of the press? Press refers to printed newspapers, so technically this does not refer to internet-based publishers. The intent of the first amendment is obvious, so we don’t really need to change the wording of the Constitution. Similarly, the intent of the scope of the GPO is obvious; the dissemination of information, whether that is done via hard copy or in digital fashion. There is no need for a name change to reflect this.
There is a long list of government agencies that should be renamed, “No Longer In Existence And All The Better For It”.
Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic...
If they really want a more descriptive name they should consider renaming it “The Ministry Of Propaganda”.
Way to go Amy, keeping your eye on what’s REALLY important. Getting the names of the bureaucracies right.
