Goes well, and DEA leaks the success - endangering the lives of local officers.
Goes bad, it's the fault of the locals.

Nice kiss off by Sheriff Rowe. Few now days will even attempt to jerk a chain or strike a standard with these unserious actors who wear an enforcement badge, but look more for a camera and applause.

It is really difficult to say which is the more corrupt and compromised agency — the DEA or the BATFE. In a sane world, the DEA and BATFE would be shutdown and disbanded. However, that will never happen because there aren't any departments in FedGov that will take the ex-employees. [One can never fire a FedGov employee, they are merely transferred to another department or agency.]

As I recall, a sheriff has jurisdiction in all cases and federal agencies are required to get a local sheriff’s permission before conducting any operations with the sheriff’s jurisdictional area. This man has the legal authority to put a monkey wrench into the DEA’s activities.

The “War on Drugs” has accomplished one thing only: the militarization of our local police forces and psychologically preparing them to dissociate from their communities morally and ethically which would allow them to cooperate bloodily with the military in a martial law/police state scenario.
You would be smart to watch the recent documentary “How to Make Money Selling Drugs”.
