No. They’ve probably spent a few billion on liberal sociologists studying it. it is now 1 AM basketball...to be more effective, dontchaknow?
How do I read this crap without my head exploding??!!!
1) The very weaselness of this is so Obama: he going to have someone else, “foundations and companies”,
“test a range of strategies” and “evaluate policies and publicize results”. That’s a roadmap to nowhere.
2) “The effort will seek to make sure that every young man of color who is willing to work hard and lift himself up has an opportunity”. Well, that’s realistic. Beware of the stampede.
3) The situation of “troubled” black youth is a very real disaster for them, and for everyone of us who bear the huge price as crime victims, taxpayers, and citizens of a crumbling civilization. We are all diminished by tolerating an internal barbarism that overwhelms institutions and schools, coarsens society, bankrupts the nation, and in some places renders daily life a dangerous proposition. Obama is right to focus on this festering sore; after five years of nothing, it’s about time. Obama SHOULD be in a unique position to tell hard truths and lead on this. It is tragic that he lacks the character or executive mentality to accomplish anything specific. We all deserve better than this PR smokescreen.
Initiative will bring foundations and companies together.
